Fitting Cross Method is a very simple and easy way to ensure the accuracy
of the placement of our high quality eyeglass lenses into your frame. We’ll start off using
a pupilometer as a reference point for your pupilary distance. |
 |
Using a washable marker, we then copy this measurement onto the front side of the demo
lens in the frame. The very first fitting cross begins as only a reference. We then look
at you right into the eyes so we can see where we have to start adjusting our measurements. |
|
While continuing to use the washable marker, this system, we start at the front of the lens,
calculate the second measurement on the inside of the demo lens, and then wash off the front surface.
We keep switching from side to side until we get the fitting crosses exactly through
the center of the pupils. |
 |
Generally, we start off by doing the vertical measurements first, and make sure
that they are accurate and documented. Then we add the horizontal measurement and
have you stand up while positioning your head in a normal comfortable position as
if you were looking across the street or driving your vehicle. |
|
After making sure that you are relaxed, we will then walk in front of you and take a look
into your eyes to see if the horizontal measurement is correct. It is always good to do this on
your own existing eyeglasses first because you can see somewhat well through your own eyeglasses,
and this gives us a great starting point. When doing your vertical lines, we don’t want you
focusing on our noses because your eyes will be converging. We will then have to have you stand
up so that we can make sure that your head position is comfortable. |
 |
We observe you in your normal head position with glasses you
can already see with.
Then when you go back to the
demos, and we can compare head positions, as you can’t
see through the demo lenses. |
|
The fitting crosses we have made on the demo glasses are verified for measurements once
they fit properly through the center of your pupils. |
