2: TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION

Why Training and Certification?
You might be curious why Vision Fore Golfing requires training and certification optometrists, ophthalmologists and other doctors who do eye examinations. After all, if you are reading this page, you are likely an expert vision care professional who might also be dispensing eyeglasses. So, why would you need training and certification for producing products and services that you are already delivering?
There answer is twofold. First, your expertise is required to be part of the North American Vision Fore Golfing Eyeglass team. Second, your expertise needs to be “exposed” and reconfigured to be able to produce these precision eyeglasses.

Let me explain.
Professionals in all fields develop routines and habits that facilitate their work. In most cases this is a good thing because it makes them more productive. Novices marvel at how much experts can do with seemingly so little time and effort. Their knowledge “expertise” operates in the background, allowing them to produce and respond quickly to new challenges and problem.
The downside of expertise is that since it works in the background it produces habits that usually go unexamined and these habits get in the way of learning new procedures that produce new results. For example, people develop habits when they learn how to drive, For the most part this is good because without them, driving would be extremely difficulty and awkward. However, these habits also prevent people from changing their driving behavior when conditions change. Thus we have, in temperate climates, the annual rash of accidents when the first snow comes.
Doctors who do eye exams and opticians who dispense eyeglasses and contact lenses are also creatures of habit. They learned certain ways in their professional schooling, which allowed them to
be competent and productive. Their knowledge base was established at that time. Most professionals continue to update their knowledge and skills. However what they learned when first educated
creates resistance to learning new ways of doing things.
Becoming a Certified Vision Fore Golfing Eyeglass Dispenser requires “unpacking” your underlying
knowledge and expertise in order to open it up to a proven approach to designing eyeglasses which
we call the 10 step process. This process requires your existing knowledge and expertise applied in
a unique manner to produce Vision Fore Golfing Eyeglasses. Thus, you need training to use your
competence in new ways.

The Art and Science of Refraction
Paul Boyko Jr., the creator of Vision Fore Golfing Eyeglasses, deeply believes in the science of refraction and vision correction. As an optician, he took it upon himself to learn the science of refraction. He did this so he better understand the prescriptions that his clients brought him to fill
and so he could respond to the occasional “conflicts” that he noticed when he compared patient histories to the new prescriptions that his clients were given. As in every other human endeavor, professionals occasionally err, opticians, optometrists and ophthalmologists alike. When every
professional in the vision correction industry understands the roles and expertise of their
counterparts, things seem to work better.
Paul Boyko Jr. wants assist you in learning the art and science of making precision eyeglasses.
He knows that when professionals develop cross-expertise, that is, when opticians can understand
refractions and optometrists and ophthalmologists can understand the manufacturing and dispensing
of lenses, then the people needing vision correction will get a superior product.
The essence of the Vision Fore Golfing Eyeglass Dispensing Certification program is to teach you
the art and science of designing and manufacturing eyeglasses that enable the presbyopic golfer
to improve their game. You will learn a ten-step process and be coached on stocking your facility
with proper equipment and tools that will enable you to be part of the Vision Fore Golfing
Manufacturing Team. Once certified, you will experience of one of the most exciting
developments in the vision correction industry in recent history.
