There is a history behind transition lenses. And since I have been in the optical industry
for 29 years, I have seen these lenses evolve over the last couple of decades. |
They created transitions that did not work. Then they created transitions 2 that barely changed color.
When they introduced transitions 3 the performance of the product was much better, the lenses still
did not get as dark as most people wanted, and still had a green color to them when you came
indoors when the lenses were supposed to lighten down. |

It was very common for me to stop at a Tim Horton's and meet up with some of my clients and all of them
tell me that they enjoyed the transition 3s, but they definitely noticed that the lenses did not get as dark
as they wished. I don’t run into that problem any more. If anything, the patients tell us that they get
too dark. If this becomes the problem, we use the transitions brown instead of the grey. |
In approximately 2003 they came out with the next generation of transition lenses.
I own a pair of these lenses and they are beautiful. |
Inside the lenses are virtually clear when they have an anti-glare coating
on them. As soon as you go outside in the sun the lenses
start turning dark and turn into a beautiful pair of sunglasses. |
